Did these on the 22nd. Here's the logo for Biz500 I made for work--same story as my last post, but different site.

DOA Logo and Headers

Hooray for the DOA, the new site I'm working on. This time I got to choose the colors and create a brand-(pun intended) new logo. I came up with all of this today--I tried playin' with logo ideas yesterday, but none of them worked out. Here's my splash page (above) with varying sizes of the logo.

This is the header that will go at the top of the website (I'm not sure what the subtext will be, but I'm pretty sure I'll have to some in)

This is an example of the section headers in the site, just change out the words and you've got all the headers done! Note the color scheme is that of my absolute favorite mix of colors: Red, Black and White (which happened to be Alta's colors, but I'm in no way biased because of that...) and since everyone keeps bugging me about what my second-favorite color scheme is, I'll tell you that I love the blue and orange complimentary color scheme (which is technically a real color scheme because the Alta colors are just colors I love use together, whereas the blue and orange have a technical and defined term).

#7. Funny thing about this one, I did this one and I did another one (see number 13. [coming soon]) and once you see it, you'll understand. It was purely accident, so I quickly got rid of one of 'em to a girl that was gone on trading day so that no one else would realize what I had done. To fully understand, just remember to look for #13 when I post it in the future.

#8. I don't remember anything significant about this one.

#9. This one was modelled after a bunch of the ones on youtube with the whole grid thing. The city didn't turn out so great, but I did realize that I had a whole complimentary-color scheme goin' on, so that pleased me.

#10. All I can say is that I hate it.

This once actually was the first one I did, but I originally painted it with acrylics, because I had a whole class to figure out what to do, and I obviously didn't have my spray paint with me because I think that it was the day we actually got the assignment. So I painted it first, then went back and spraypainted over it.

Sketch Book "Dump," As The BYU Bloggers Call It

Ahh! What is that hideous thing? Why, that's my blind-contour self-portrait I had to do for Drawing I. I do hope this actually gets my hand-eye coordination better, rather than just make me feel stupid.

Here's an older sketch book page from about two weeks ago. I drew this stuff on my way down to Sandy for the Labor Day Weekend. I was trying to figure out the whole web 2.0 designs that day and also just trying to come with ideas for quick logos. I did the self-portrait (basically my first ever) looking in the side-view mirror, because I rode in shotgun. Even though the dark shadow conceals a lot of my face/important features like my eyes, I think it has a stunning resemblance. I'm amazing.

Some Buttons

Here's my latest project (and comparison to the cake stuff I did this summer). It's a bunch of cool, web 2.0 looking buttons, yay! I made all the icons in Illustrator (except the ball and ?--[photoshop]--and the getting started button image--[bought by Syncnet, and I changed the color of the arrow]), and then created the rest in Photoshop.
These are for Syncnet's LCDEV website as part of the eBizsuite, because we're membership website experts. I think they are much better/more professional, which of course, they have to be, plus I might just be biased to the fact that there's no pink in these ones. I know there is an extra green on the last row, as I compiled them I realized I'd left out the forum button, but when I loaded it up and it was green, I realized that there's something amiss, and I'll probably get a call to redo yet another button...

This is what I did in the summer time for the cake decorating ideas website, pretty cool, I think.

Comparison

This post is basically for me, because I've developed a habit of sitting around going back and forth between these two so I can see how much more amazing the reinvented logo is.

Saturday Morning, What To Do...

Tired of watching dumb cartoons...TMNT is the only good one on anymore. this is a scene I came up with last night at the bonfire thing I had last night up at 2nd dam. I saw it walking back to the cars and I knew I had to paint it sometime, so here's a quick, rough, value study I did in Photoshop.

Needed somethin' else to draw after the value study, so I went out of my norm and tried my hand at a cartoon person. A fat cartoon person. I think he's a business guy, but I don't know. I probably won't take the time to finish his face, so that's why I'm posting him at this stage.

Logo Reinvention

I finally realized how weird the logo looked with sharp edges, so I put the darn thing in Photoshop, wonderful Photoshop, and erased the edges and fine-tuned the whole web 2.0 shiny thing. I think the small changes actually made it a stronger logo. Strange how that works.

Another One

This is just AWESOME. I'll be saving the basic logo design (Top right) for a real logo, but these were also to put into my portfolio for logo design.

Designing

I applied for a T-shirt designer job yesterday, so I figured I ought to start beefing up my portfolio as far as design/logos and stuff goes. Here's a cool "grunge" design I did in Illustrator. It's totally sweet.

More Artist Trading Cards

#3. I realized later why the pyramids didn't look as good as they should have--I sprayed the shade up and down instead of at an angle. Oh well, I actually redid this one for Hill, because she really wanted it, but I had to trade it in class. Kirk Logan (who I had known since 4th grade) now has it.

#4. This was one of my other favorites--I loved the texture because I did a lot of layering and scraping (with a palette knife) and in the end the spray of the water could be felt, as could the grooves making the highlights of the rocks.

#5. The shading on this planet was awesome, though I ruined it with a terrible background--I was trying to make a few comets, but that backfired and it now looks like a spaceship/UFO or something. It's harder than I thought to keep clarity with spray paint on such small dimensions. Seth Crandall, Mr. Sterling Scholar, ended up with this one.

#6. I tried to recreate the amazing shading effect of the planet above and failed miserably, not to mention the atrocious composition. Two subjects=bad, (generally) three=great.

Artist Trading Card #2

This one is my absolute favorite card, so it gets it's own personal post all to itself. My teacher took this one, so it made me both mad and happy because I lost my favorite card, but I was also wise in my choice of favorite, because my teacher had to have the best--meaning I'm getting better with knowing what is good.

A Little Extra Time

I still have a long time 'till my first class, so I decided to try out Paint with my sweet laptop and the stylus/touchscreen. I used the mountains just outside my window as reference. I'm quite proud of this because I've never made anything in Paint that wasn't stupid and looked horrible. I like painting on the computer because it's easy, doesn't cost everytime, requires literally no setup, it's not messy and it's fast--I made this in about a half-hour! I can't wait to get Photoshop loaded on this baby.

Sketch Book Stuff

Today is the first day of college. I don't have a class until 1:00, so what could I possibly do that's better than updating my blog?

Here's a nice out-of-the-ordinary art piece for me. I did this at the beginning of last year in AP Art after I saw the Sterling Scholar kid do something like it, so naturally I copied his ideas in my own sketchbook, because that's what I like to do.

I drew this charcoal spider at my Grandma and Grandpa Brown's house during the October General Conference last year.

This is a more recent sketch from this particular sketchbook. I did these in Koosharem after I found a load of animal books on a bookshelf, this last May. I then inked out the elk on 6-15-08.

I also did these on my Koosharem trip in May, but I only wanted to show the elephant because I hated the antelope when I was drawing it, so I stopped, and I still hate it now.

When I went to San Diego, I saw lots of booths for caricature drawing, so I decided I'd do my sister as we traveled back home on June 15th. This was my very first caricature, so sorry Hill, and sorry to all those I just gave eye spasms to.

More multimedia

With the exception of the last picture, these were all a part of my portfolio for Advanced Multimedia.

My parents went to Singapore last year and took two pictures with one of them in it, so I decided to put them together, since they couldn't do it themselves, so I took my dad out of his picture on the lion and put in with my mom.

Miss Sandy lives in my ward and she had a photo-shoot for another guy in my ward in our basement, so I grabbed her picture and put in Washington D.C., where our family went two summers ago.

This is a scene from my parents' Singapore trip, and I wanted to see my uncle Gary jump his bike onto the grass--a dangerous feat in Singapore.

I thought I'd be cool and carve faces into the rocks, then I found out people can actually do it so it looks real and much better on places like worth1000, so I got a little discouraged...

Me likes this one. That's me and my captain, Bryan, playin' a cadence at Alta. I'm basically that short compared to everyone on that drumline.

This was a sweet title I made for the morning video announcements that I was in charge of one week, so I played around with the lighting effects/filters and came up with this.

Going Back

Here's some old assignments from my first Multimedia class. I figured I'd post 'em so you can see how much better I am now, not that I'm all that great anyway... This one above is a vector assignment, getting used to the pen tool in Illustrator

This was a photoshop assignment to replace the sky with a different skyscape. i guess it's ok, I should have messed around with the sky a bit more, darkened it, maybe mess with some of the other settings.

Artist Trading Cards

Artist Trading Cards were the last assignments for the year in AP Art. I realy liked this assignment--we were supposed to create 17 pieces (2 1/2" X 3 1/2") that were in our own "style." I decided to do spray paint, this is number 1

Duck Stamp

This is kind of embarrasing, but here's my first duck stamp entry. It wouldn't be too embarrasing if it were five years ago or something, but this was my entry for the 2008 Utah Duck Stamp Contest.

Parkour 2

This is my second Parkour piece. Much better than the first, and I love the anatomy, although the legs look a bit strange (though that's partially the position's fault).

Parkour Concentration

This was my first painting for my Concentration section for the AP Art Exam. It stinks. Exceedingly. However, I thought my concpet of Parkour as a demonstration of motion, energy, and anatomy was a good idea, plus I redid this one, not that it improved too much...The rest get better, by the way...and I like using the ellipsis...

At it again

It's a cloudscape, in case you couldn't tell. I really like this program.

oh, and as warning for the future: don't expect me to be posting so much once college starts...

My Friend Jordann

She looks...strange, but I think it's pretty good, since I was on a time crunch to get some Illustrator projects done in Advanced Multimedia (Senior Year). I had good intentions to actually finish her, but I think I'm too lazy and I need to look to the future anyway. Sorry Jordann.

This is actually my first logo design assignment for work. I think I did this mid-June. This was a pretty important one--it's the logo for the main product "eBiz Suite," and the icon is now on most of the pages at syncnet.com. Cool stuff.
